Not every land project needs a mulcher. Sometimes you need a driveway graded, a field mowed down, a building pad leveled, or a drainage problem fixed. That's where our land services come in. We handle the everyday property work that keeps rural land functional, accessible, and looking good — whether you live on the property full-time or visit a few weekends a year.
We see a lot of hunting cabins, seasonal properties, and rural homesites across Oceana, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Mecosta, Manistee, Osceola, and Lake counties that just need consistent maintenance. Driveways wash out, fields grow up, access roads get rough. Instead of calling three different guys, you can call us for all of it. We have the equipment and the experience to handle grading, brush hogging, mowing, and small excavation work in a single trip.
Whether you're prepping a site for a new build, fixing a washed-out driveway before deer season, or keeping your fields from going back to brush, we'll take care of it. We show up when we say we will and do the job right so you don't have to call somebody else to fix it.
Grading is one of those things that doesn't sound exciting until you realize how much depends on it. Every new building — whether it's a cabin, pole barn, garage, or house — needs a level pad with proper drainage slope. Get the grade wrong and you're dealing with water pooling against the foundation, flooded basements, or a driveway that turns into a river every time it rains. We see it all the time across Oceana, Muskegon, and Newaygo counties.
We grade building pads, correct drainage problems on existing properties, level out uneven terrain, and prepare sites for construction. The key is moving water away from structures and off high-traffic areas. It sounds simple, but getting the slope right — typically 2-3% away from buildings — takes experience and the right equipment. We also handle finish grading for yards, landscaping prep, and topsoil spreading.
If you're planning a new build on rural property in West Michigan, getting the site graded properly before construction starts saves you major headaches and expense down the road. We can coordinate with your builder's timeline so the pad is ready when they need it.
Rural driveways in West Michigan take a beating. Spring thaw, heavy rain, snow plows, and regular traffic all work against them. We install new gravel driveways and repair existing ones across Oceana, Newaygo, Mason, Muskegon, and Lake counties. The process starts with proper base preparation — clearing the path, grading the subgrade for drainage, and building up layers of material so the driveway holds up over time instead of turning to mud after the first heavy rain.
For new driveways, we typically work with crushed gravel, crushed limestone, or recycled asphalt depending on your soil conditions, traffic, and budget. Longer driveways to back-of-property cabins or hunting camps are some of our most common jobs. For repairs, we re-grade the existing surface, fill in washouts and potholes, add new material where needed, and crown the driveway so water runs off to the sides instead of down the middle.
A lot of our driveway clients are cabin or hunting property owners who visit a few times a month and need a driveway that holds up between visits without constant maintenance. We build them to last and can set up annual maintenance visits to keep them in shape year-round.
Brush hogging is heavy-duty mowing for overgrown fields, fence lines, property edges, and areas that are too rough for a regular mower. If your field hasn't been mowed in a few years and has saplings, tall grass, and woody brush growing up through it, a standard mower won't cut it — you need a brush hog. We clear overgrown lots, maintain fields, mow around food plots, and keep property edges clean across West Michigan.
Regular brush hogging — once or twice a year — keeps your land open and prevents woody growth from taking over. Left alone, a field in Michigan will grow into a thicket of saplings and brush within three to five years. At that point, you're looking at forestry mulching instead of a simple mowing job. Annual brush hogging is the cheapest way to keep your fields and clearings maintained. We offer one-time jobs or set up a recurring schedule, whatever makes sense for your property.
We grade flat, properly drained building pads for cabins, pole barns, garages, and outbuildings. Correct grading from the start prevents foundation and drainage problems later.
New gravel driveways, regrading existing drives, fixing washouts, and adding material. We work with gravel, crushed limestone, and recycled asphalt.
Standing water and soggy yards often come down to grading. We regrade problem areas to direct water away from structures and off your driveway.
Overgrown fields, fence lines, and property edges brought back under control. Regular brush hogging keeps your land open and prevents woody growth from taking over.
Seasonal mowing, field maintenance, and general upkeep for rural properties. We offer one-time jobs or recurring schedules — whatever fits your needs.
